Will people be completely happy with this? No, but they'll definitely be far happier than getting kicked out of the game we all love. So if people are ok with the dropped support they keep the old version, if they're not they upgrade to the new one and new customers grab the complete version right away (since the base one is de-listed, or whatever).or leave both listed and decide to support them both with updates, or just the complete eedom of imagination here. How do I know this? De-listing a game on GoG.com means just removing it from the store shelf, you still keep it in your library and can continue using it (Fallout did this, Due Nukem and Obscure, just to point a few examples). Not ideal, but I'm pretty sure nobody will complain. SCENARIO B: The above statement for 2 different clients is a bad excuse from the devsWell, since you already abandoned the game to begin with, do this: de-list the current version and release a new one with the DLC built in for $30 instead of $20, along with a 'Upgrade pack' for $10 that can be applied to the owners of the base version.

Add a verification somewhere in the game code and an extra blank file (for example NODLC.bin), then have the game search for this file in its folder - if it's there, don't load the DLC content in both single and multiplayer, and if it not there, load the content (and if the DLC is not there but someone erased the file as attempt to cheat it, receive error or game crash, they shouldn't have deleted it without having te DLC installed).

SCENARIO A: The Steam and GoG.com versions are in reality 2 separate games (as hinted by the devs when asked why the GoG.com patches take OVER a month to be released)Since you already gave the stand-alone GoG client, have the whole DLC content in a separate DLC pack for sale like any other game there.
